DJ Sovern-T (a.k.a. Taharba James) has had a love for music from an early age. He started off in the early 90s as a promoter and DJ in San Diego, relocated to the bay area and played bass in various bands, and then moved to Hawaii where he is now one of Honolulu's most in-demand DJs.

DJ Sovern-T has been a firm fixture in the West Coast and Hawaii music scenes for more than a decade. He has performed at West Coast venues such as the Music Box and Century Center in Los Angeles, Baby Rock in Mexico, and numerous festivals in Southern California and Hawaii, including the Love Fest. Known for seamless blending, Sovern-T rocks the dance floor with True School Hip-hop, House, Top 40, Latin, Electronic, Bhangra, Bollywood, Funk, Soul, Reggae/Dancehall, Jazz and World Music. As a promoter, DJ Sovern-T continues to bring to Hawaii some of the best musicians and entertainers in the business. Sovern-T has worked with (and opened for) artists such as Tribe Called Quest, World Famous Beat Junkies, Ky-Mani Marley, Shinehead, Baby Cham, Mr. Vegas, Goldie, Ozomatli, Jurassic 5, Black Eyed Peas, Public Enemy, Jessie Saunders, and Shy FX, just to name a few.

As the official DJ for the 2005 Hawaiian Islands Spring Break MySpace tour, and a host of the DMC Hawaii Regionals, Sovern-T keeps his hands on the pulse of the scene and delivers a signature sound that is so unique it deserves to be declared 'Sovern'.

Sovern-T continues to inflame in people an uncontrollable urge to just dance! He posseses a flair for seamlessly blending hiphop, reggae, drum-n-bass & dancehall music into a signature sound that is so unique it deserves to be declared 'Sovern'. A typical Sovern-T set consists of a "natural mix of bangin' beats to compliment the natural mix of people on the dancefloor".
