Dj Nocturna started in radio broadcasting over 12 years ago on Public Radio 89.3 FM. As a dedicated radio host personality of "A Feast of Friends" held every Saturday evenings (6pm-9pm) on KTUH 90.3 FM, Hawaii only alternative for the 808 State with guest/co-host Lana Saldania, Dj Nocturna has been a respected representative of the dark 80s, goth, industrial subculture and New Wave/80s music scene. Through her passion for music and radio, she loves meeting people, making friends, doing interviews with musicians and directors, renowned actors, dancers and artists from all walks of life on her radio show. Some of which included from Andy Rouke, bass player of the Smiths to current famous goth icon, Voltaire. One of the most remembered in-studio interviews she recalls was a few years ago with James MacArthur ("Danno" of Hawaii Five-O) to the most recent, Mindy Cohn (Natalie Green of the 80s sitcom, The Facts of Life).
Also a dedicated club promoter, bringing musicians together and putting up shows, such as Voltaire and San Francisco based cellist and singer, Unwoman (Erica Mulkey), her long running monthly event "Camera Obscura/Batcave" and her 80s theme party held at Bar 35 every last Saturday of the month, "80s Pop Muzik" is indicative of her true passion for music and the arts. She has successfully gained a cult-like following and deep respect among her patrons who seek true inhabitance of dark music, literature, art, culture and passion.
Besides spinning on A Feast of Friends radio show every Saturday nights, her monthly events and the weekly long running residency at Acid Wash every Wednesday night at Soho, she spins for private parties and special events around town in the music genres she remembers fondly: disco, soul, funk, classic rock, alternative rock, New Wave, the 80s, the dark 80s, goth and industrial. www.djnocturna.com. |
