Byron the Fur (BTF)

 Now in his 20th year behind the decks, BTF (aka Byron The Fur) has well earned his reputation for being one of the best well rounded DJ's in the islands. As a veteran of Honolulu's night scene, Byron learned to mix all across the musical spectrum out of his love for music rather than necessity.
In 1992, Byron was first exposed to electronic and dance music at the now defunct legendary radio station Radio Free Hawaii 102.7FM, where he first started as an intern. It was there where he met DJ Daniel J and credits him as inspiration for becoming a DJ. Throughout the 90's, BTF sharpened his talents in the club scene at places such as The Jungle, 1739, After Dark, Virus, Evolution and Pink's Garage just to name a few.
As the year 2000 arrived, so did a new opportunity. Byron was hired to be resident DJ at the now infamous Wave Waikiki. It was there were he would play for acts such as A-Trak, DJ Swamp, LTJ Bukem, Armand Van Helden, DJ Keoki, Angel Alanis, Terry Mullen, Mei-Lwun & Mark Farina, among others. But, he would not be limited by Oahu's shoreline. Byron would expand to the outer islands of Hawaii as well the West Coast, playing for The Monster Massive at the L.A. Sports Arena in 2002.
Since the closure of The Wave in 2006, Byron has played at various venues all across the Honolulu night scene. Trip-hop, down tempo, hip-hop, rock, house, electro and everything in between, BTF's versatility and love for music will keep you on your toes and your head bobbin'. |
